As for the Nitrate theme, it’s already fine and ready to deploy the link, since it’s specifically just a link-in-bio page.

For Betterwebs, it’s also good. The accordion button has a sleek typeface combination and looks dope — it’s a simple page to share your information and links too.

Maude still needs an upgrade, even though it’s already nice. The problem is the space between paragraphs is too big, and also the space between paragraphs and the date/tags area is too large.

I already tried to fix it with mainstream !important rules, so the margin is zero, but it’s still big. Hmm…

And Maude is essentially a copy/inspired by my Eleventy blog that you see right now. On Eleventy, it looks fine. So now the question is: do you want a full minimalist static blog, or just simple pages?

Yeeah, but why?

Well, imagine this: You want to start a business, but someone says, "No, you can't do that with that amount of money; it won't cover the costs."

What do you think after hearing that? Yeah, you will retreat because you are scared of wasting money.

But you forget one thing.

We live in the same sea but use different ships.

The one who says "no, you can't do that" might already hold a silver (or worst, a golden) spoon.

They were already rich since birth, but you are not...

So, if you follow that advice, you will never start a business because you are too scared to lose money and time.

But it's not a real business if you use free classes (or free assets) from the internet... Have you ever felt ashamed?

Yes, you may have heard that once in your life, but our advice is just to ignore it.

Just start it, and make it better later.

How?

There is a solution. How about you just use the free tools you can find on the internet?

Is that legal? Yes.

The internet is full of nice people who share their work for free to make society better.

Just use free tools.

If you open GitHub, you will find someone releasing free LLMs, so you can host them on your own server.

Our blog here uses GitHub to store our code, uses Netlify's free tier for hosting, and uses Eleventy as the base because we love static sites (fast and safe, no server stuff).

Don't have money to hire a graphic designer? Just visit Gumroad, and you will find good people sharing their work for free, really...

Go visit Google Fonts for free typefaces; find whatever font you want to use. Go to Material Design too, and you will find free assets for your design.

Don't have time to make a website template? Just go to Framer.

Even big giant companies have FREE TIERS in their own business models. Yes, they want you to use their products. Try it... start it...

See? It's fine to use free assets from the internet. It's fine to use free tiers (not premium) from companies.

Just start it, then make it premium when you have already earned money.

OBSRVR is a blog directory focused on curating, testing, documenting, and other things related to various assets and tools that I try out, whether from personal sources or the internet.

All curation, testing, and documentation results are subjective [personal].

Why should (you and I) blog?

Personally, it's because I want to document all (like-ly) personal things, and they need to be easily accessible. Sure, not everything (especially the very private stuff) can be posted, but I still want a space to speak (write).

I also enjoy hoarding things I like that I come across on the internet or from other sources (besides the internet).

And I'm pretty lazy when it comes to social media timelines these days — they're full of algorithms, like everyone's competing to do this and that. Of course, there's always a slight urge to join in, and I do follow along sometimes, but then after a while I get burned out because of one thing or another. Tired.

Finally (though I haven't experienced it yet), it's about freedom. We know that social media has owners, and all the content you and I post isn't ours — it's theirs. And as owners, they can delete or suspend your account or posts however they like, without notice or any clear reason.

So that's why I want to have a blog.
